Amaze the Narnian people with your perfect performance. We encourage original Narnia themed work but renaissance acts are welcome.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS 

1. Theme: As this is an immersive event, we do ask that your Character/ Performance be in accordance with our theme: medieval/ fantasy. If you are not accustomed to doing a themed character we have so many resources and people available to help you! :) We don’t want to overwhelm you or make you feel daunted. Our goal is to come alongside you and really help your act shine with your own unique Narnia twist.  We are a team and part of what makes Narnia so special is YOU: the performers!  We want to equip you to feel empowered to confidently step into your Narnian character.
2. We are currently accepting performers on a volunteer basis.
3. Following the code of conduct. 

PERFORMANCE RULES

As we have been graciously granted the Narnia copyright for this event, we must follow the very strict rules so as to not lose our copyright. One of which is that we cannot include anything the professor might have disapproved of or anything that would conflict with his beliefs.

This being said, we do have a list of items that will be prohibited to present/sell at the festival. This list includes:

2. Choose the character you would like to play. (Named character positions such as “Mr. Beaver” and “Mr. Tumnus” have been filled, but you could still play a faun or beaver)

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

1. Fill out our registration form at the bottom of this page
2. Socials: A link to your socials. Since this is a family friendly event we will only be attaching social links to the website if the social media does not break any of our guidelines.  If you have content that is not family friendly on your social media, that is completely fine, we just won’t be linking your social media on the website.
3.  Bio: A bio write up about your booth and what your wares are. Roughly 50 - 100 words. And please make it Narnia Faire themed. We included some great examples from some of our approved vendors.* (Example Bios provided at the end of the document) 
4. Opt in or Out of the Quest System: Let us know if you want to opt into our quest system (you would have patron’s do a simple task at your booth then stamp their quest card with a stamp we provide. This is just another fun layer of immersion to the event and quests will be posted at our quest board. So having a quest will send more people to your booth.)  We can help you find a quest if you are interested but don’t have any ideas. (Example Bios provided at the end of the document) 
5. Opt in or Out of Demos: Also please let us know if you would like to give a demonstration. Perhaps showing how you make some of your wares. Basket Weaving, painting, beadwork or the like. 
6. Performance Description: If you are performing and songs or stories, please send us a write up of the lyrics so we may approve them. 

EXAMPLE QUESTS

Question (simple): (Patrons listen to the stories of cast/vendors)

• Ask a dryad what tree they’re from and a fun fact about that tree
• Ask Soren how she fought against the White Witch’s army
• Ask the Spring Dryad what winter was like for her 
• Ask the Naiads and mermaids what rivers and oceans they’re from and a fun fact about the water

Riddle: (Patrons have to answer a riddle)

• share your knowledge: How many cowrie shells does it take to buy a chicken? Go to the Serene Shells booth to find out (mermaid booth)   

Talk (simple): (Patrons share a story/piece of information with cast/vendors)

• Ask Mr. Tumnus his favorite Tea and snack, and tell him yours
• Mrs. Beaver is looking for new recipes, share your favorite with her. 
• Ask Mr. Beaver about his dam and try to guess how many trees it took- Mr. Beaver (please note that these were not dryad trees. There are trees in Narnia that don’t have dryads attached to them) 

Talk (Imaginative): (Patrons have to use their imagination or elaborate as they tell a story)

•  These items are not what they seem. Find an item and create a fantastic dramatic tale and tell the creatures of Narnia. And to them, because of your tale, that "trash" will transform into "treasure" (Tell one of the Narnia Characters about how this piece of trash is really a magical treasure. Entertain us with it's story. You may only complete this quest twice a day). 
• Tell Seager the tale teller a story.
• Many adventurers travel from realms unknown to us Narnians. Please entertain us with your tale. Have you fought any monsters? Vanquished foes? Tell us of your highs and of your lows. (Tell us your cosplay character’s story) 

Patron Activity (Simple): (Patrons have to demonstrate something or complete a task)

•  Help improve relations between Narnia and Archenland by teaching King Lune a special greeting that can be used for the Narnians to say hello to Archenland. 
• If you find missing treasure in small treasure boxes marked with a golden lion bring it to the prize booth for a prize. 
• Demonstrate or explain your favorite fighting technique (in a manner that is appropriate for any delicate creatures who may overhear) 
•  Challenge High King Peter to a duel of thumbs 

Patron Activity (Complex): (Patrons get to complete a more involved task)

•  They say that bumblebees shouldn't fly and neither should you, but the way you speed through that obstacle course makes me think that you do.  
•  Color in the world at the craft booth (coloring pages). 
• Duel your friends. 
• Add a layer to the community weaving loom
• Assist rope makers as they create a new rope

Cast Activity: (Cast do a fun activity prompted by patrons)

•  Ask Dawn the dryad to play a song for you on her Viola.
• Get a gift from Miss Crow.
• Attend a Calligraphy Demonstration.

EXAMPLE BIOS

Wild Bee Designs: offers gemstone treasures from all over Narnia.  They also provide small animal tokens made of stones and handcrafted wire wrap jewelry.  They have all kinds of treasures for the mysterious strange people and talking animals in Narnia.

Miss Mozzy: sells fantasy jewelry and crowns. From woodland fairy to queen we have a sparkly addition to your perfect cosplay or costume. Adorn yourself in a twinkling flower crown and vintage inspired butterfly brooches. Feel fierce in a metal tiara and shoulder gauntlets.

Miss Crow: (Not Miscreant or Mischievous, Mind you.) will be showing her treasures and finds at the faire! You’re welcome to peruse her treasures at Corvid’s Cove! 

Jess T Creative: Come visit the Dryad defender Hemlock and her knightly companion at Jess T Creative.  Adorn yourself with handmade jewelry – fairy earrings, sword and knife earrings, handmade necklaces. Or procure a beautiful Narnia inspired print or original illustration.

Boston Mountain Candles:  are made with the finest botanical elements in all of Archenland and our wax comes from a very special source in the lowlands near Cair Paravel. My children paint the titles on all our candles; you can see their brush skills are quite fine. We are beside ourselves to meet you and offer our candle services…and perhaps interest you in a riddle.

Bio Tips:

1. Write in the third person. 
2. Include as many Narnia themed connections as possible. 

Narnia themed connections: We are currently in the Golden Era of Narnia, so content in The Magician’s Nephew, The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, and The Horse and His Boy is all up for grabs.  

If you make stick ponies perhaps you can mention that you make them in the likeness of the legendary talking horses Bree and Hwin from The Horse and His Boy and the horse Strawberry from The Magician’s Nephew.  

If you are selling short stories perhaps they are inspired by the ancient Calormen storytelling traditions. If you sell stationary, perhaps it was the same kind that Aravis used to send her father off her scent, or the same stationary Rabadash would have written letters to Queen Susan on in The Horse and His Boy.  

If you have horns perhaps they are made in the likeness of Queen Susan’s legendary horn or King Lune of Archenland’s horn.  If you have cat items perhaps they are to help take care of the great cats of Narnia who defended Narnia against the Calormen invasion (so they deserve to be pampered).
